Sunflowers

Sunflowers are a symbol to me, that summer is winding down.  In Nova Scotia, they bloom in the later part of August.  I guess that’s why I associate them with the seasonal transition that many don’t want to talk about.  😉  However, Fall is my favourite season.  I love everything about it!  These sunflowers grew in our vegetable garden this year.  I brought some home last weekend to enjoy on the dining room table.

 A very simple centrepiece:

A flat “basket” that I found at an antique shop for $5.

A thrifted milk glass vase $5.99

Thrifted vintage brown transfer ware ( I forget…but cheap!  😉

The feathers are from the turkey pen at my sisters house.  (Thanks to

my niece for going in and getting them for me.  Those turkeys

freek me out a bit.)

I love to put together simple vignettes and centrepieces.  All you have to do is pick a theme or coordinating colours.  Cluster together an odd number of items that are varying heights.  Easy peasy!  Have a great long weekend!

Holly - So pretty Tanya. I can’t wait to see what you do with your burlap tablecloth and velvet.

Stefanie - So pretty and creative, as usual! Had to laugh at the part where your niece had to get the feathers for you :)

Barbara F. - So beautiful, Tanya. I love everything in this vignette. I do love fall, too, my fave season. Wish it lasted six months! I just bought a milk glass vase at a virtual yard sale. Need to get some flowers for it!
