Nativity scenes have always been special to me. The first few years of our marriage, my husband bought me pieces of the Precious Moments set until it was complete. Then, we bought a plastic set so that little hands could display the nativity scene however they liked. A couple years ago I found a real treasure. In an antique store, I found a set identical to the nativity scene my “Grammie Bee” always displayed at Christmas. She was french, so to her it was called the Creche.
This past week my thrifting partner, Holly, and I hit the road! This was probably my favorite “find” of the day. It looked pretty much like the picture below when I spent $4.99 for it. There were a few loose pieces of moss floating around the figurines, but the moss was already stripped off the roof like you see here.
So I got to work. It took all of about 5 minutes. The figurines were not attached, so I moved them to a safe spot, and heated up the glue gun. For those of you who read recently that I lost my glue gun…it is still lost. I bought a new one! A girl can only go so long without her glue gun!
While heating up the gun, I took a good look at the porcelain figurines. Aren’t they sweet! They have a real vintage look to them.
A little bit of spanish moss and green moss later, and I had a new nativity stable!
Some times a little tender love and care (and moss) is all you need!
