We Remember…

Remembrance Day display in our home.

In Flanders Fields

“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.”

Colonel John MacRae

Remembrance Day 2011

I always think of my maternal grandfather (pictured above)
who served in WWI and WWII.
I am so thankful for the freedom I enjoy today because of the service, and sacrifice of so many that continues to this day.

Does Remembrance Day have a special significance to you?

How will you remember?

Julie Day - Great display, love the memorabilia! I chuckled when I saw the Under the Apple Tree book. I went to a remembrance day concert last night and my daughter and 2 other girls were the Andrew sisters and that is one of the songs they sang :) Thanks for sharing,!

Pamela Gordon - What a beautiful display of honor to your grandfather. It’s so nice that you have those items to show. We were going to go to the ceremony but it’s just too rainy so will watch the service from Ottawa on tv. Since that is an hour behind us I will also observe 2 mintues silence at 11:00 our time. I also did a post for today. Blessings, Pamela
